If you ask a Malayali movie buff about the "golden era," they’ll usually point to the 80s (the golden age of satire and Padmarajan) or the late 2010s (the Premam /new-wave explosion). But nestled right in the middle of the cinematic dark ages before OTT and the "new generation" label became a curse word, lies 2013 .
2013 was the year the industry stopped trying to be Tamil or Bollywood and remembered what it was: raw, intelligent, and brutally rooted.
