After 99 consecutive wins, the screen flickered. The wireframe court melted away, replaced by a live satellite feed of an empty gymnasium in Akron, Ohio. The Ghost in the
ORBIT replied with a single line:
He chose a character—a lanky point guard with his own old jersey number, #11. The first shot was automatic. He tapped the screen, and the pixelated ball arced perfectly. Swish. The final score is blurred
