But one Tuesday night, a boy no older than ten walked in. His name was Davi.

“Boy,” Miguel said, “that film doesn’t exist anymore.”

Miguel raised an eyebrow. O Pequenino — a forgotten Brazilian fantasy film from 1995 about a boy who shrinks after finding a cursed marble. It bombed at the box office. The distributor went bankrupt. The dub was lost.

Ever since streaming took over, Seu Miguel’s rental shop, Locadora São Jorge , had become a ghost. Dust covered the “Novidades” shelf, and the only light was the flicker of a CRT TV in the corner, playing old trailers on a loop.

The next morning, Miguel found the tape returned. Inside the case was a hand-drawn marble and a note:

“Seu Miguel,” Davi whispered, sliding a crumpled five-real note across the counter. “I need O Pequenino . The full movie. Dubbed.”

“Obrigado. We grew bigger last night.”
