Back to present: Ashur orders Drakon locked in the cesspit (underground cell). That night, Drakon whispers to other gladiators in Thracian. By dawn, three gladiators have slit their own throats – a ritual curse. Ashur’s gamblers arrive for a private fight. He matches Diona against a champion from Neapolis. Diona wins – but refuses to kill the man, breaking Ashur’s rule.
Drakon leads a revolt inside the ludus. Gladiators take up wooden swords. Ashur, alone in his quarters, smiles. He opens a hidden chest – inside: Batiatus’ melted ring now forged into a sica sword (Thracian curved blade).
