Absolutely breathtaking – a must-see in Stockholm

I spent nearly two hours here and easily could have stayed longer. Great for all ages – kids will love the scale, and history buffs will appreciate the detail. The gift shop is also excellent, with tasteful, educational souvenirs.

I’ve traveled to many museums around the world, but the Vasa Museum is truly one of a kind. The centerpiece – the Vasa ship itself – is stunning. Raised from the sea after over 300 years, it’s remarkably preserved, and seeing it in person is almost surreal. The sheer size and intricate carvings are unforgettable.

The museum is laid out over several levels, giving you different perspectives of the ship – from eye level at the keel to looking down onto the decks. The exhibits are well-signed in both Swedish and English, and the audio guide (included with admission) adds fascinating context about the ship’s sinking, salvage, and preservation.
